John Cena as honorary starter of Daytona 500 Engines ? Wrestling news

WWE superstar John Cena has been honoured with the opportunity to be the Honorary Starter of the 54th?Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup series.

The event will take place at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Sunday, February 26.

Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III, on Cena?s selection, said, ?John Cena is the greatest Superstar in WWE today. We look forward to seeing him on the flag stand waving the green flag to start ?The Great American Race? and kick off the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.?

John Cena?s participation came in through Carl Edwards, 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series runner-up, on last week?s Monday Night Raw show of WWE. Edwards came in his official NASCAR No.99 Fastenal Ford to invite Cena. As soon as he got out the car, he said, ?NASCAR asked me to come to Monday Night Raw and personally invite you to drop the green flag and officially start the Daytona 500 on February 26.?

John Cena seemed excited about the opportunity and immediately nodded his approval.

This would be another addition to John Cena?s extended career. We have seen him rapping, acting, modelling, and wrestling and now we will see him waving the green flag for the Daytona 500 engines. Cena has already acknowledged that his life has been a rollercoaster ride since he became a WWE superstar.

John Cena, who is currently signed to WWE?s Raw brand, made his WWE debut in 2002 against Kurt Angle. Right from his career start, Cena grabbed that much needed public attention. He soon became the WWE champion and Royal Rumble winner branding himself as the next big thing of WWE.

Cena will be entering the ring to face The Rock on WrestleMania 28 this April. Both the superstars have gained tremendous success and public favour during their WWE careers. The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, is no longer a WWE superstar, but more of an actor.

However, his popularity among WWE fans still exists. His recent ring appearances provoked John Cena to make him an offer for the match of generations. The historic match will be headlining WrestleMania 28 this year.
