In It To Win It: A Fantasy Sports Blog: Week 14 Awards: Baseball ...

HITTING

Give it a ride
Dustin Pedroia hit the same number of HR in Week 14 as Bautista, Beltre and Holliday.? Nice work by the little guy.?

Right on the screws.
Derek Jeter went for 5 for 5 in the game that he collected is 3000th career hit.?? Number 3000 was a HR off David Price!

All over that pitch.
Aramis Ramirez continued to rake in week 14.?? In the past 14 days, he has 21 hits.? Nine have left the yard.? Three were bashed in Week 14.?

Really got ahold of that one.
Freddie Freeman hit 4 HR last week.? One of them was driven through the pouring rain into the right field seats.?? Earlier in the same game, he hit an oppositie field shot.?

Tatooed that one.
Raul Ibanez feasted on Braves pitching this past weekend hitting liners all over and even out of the park.?? For the week he drove in 13 runs.?

Sent that one into orbit.
Matt Holiday was driving the ball last week.? He slugged a .857 percentage and launched 4 long balls.

Swinging for the fence.
Dan Uggla always swings for the fence.? He hit three dingers with an .800 slugging percentage as the Braves?won?4 of 6 games.?

At em ball.?
Jason Werth had a turn the season around opportunity Saturday night.? Instead of delivering a walk-off hit or a walk-off SAC Fly, he grounded into a double play on a ball hit right at Tulo.? Ball game.?Washington loses and the boos rained down on the man?who signed a?very big off season contract.?? For week 14, Werth had just 3 hits in 25 at bats for a .120 batting average.?

Hit em where they ain't
Emilio Bonifacio led the major leagues with a .476 batting average last week.? 10 hits in 21 at bats.? He also stole 6 bases.? New manager Jack McKeon has him running at will.?

That was a dying quail.?
Mike Moustakas will likely be a star in the near future.? For Week 14 he managed just one hit in 23 at bats.? Established vet Rafael Furcal also hit many dying quails with just two hits in 22 at bats in his return from the DL.?

Can't steal first base.
True.? But Jacoby Ellsbury doesn't need too.? He led the AL with 27 total bases in week 14.?

PITCHING

Getting shelled.
Boston let Ricky Romero have it.?? 9 hits, 3 walks, 6 ER in 4.1 IP.?

Got to him early and often.
On July 1 (Week 13), Jake Westbrook shut out the Rays.?? In Week 14, he didn't make it out of the 5th inning, allowing 7 earned runs.?

Throwing some heat.
C.C. Sabathia is on a roll.? 20 Ks in week 14.? In his last three games he hasn't allowed a run in 23 innings while striking out 33.?

Pitching lights out.
Craig Kimbrel set the major league baseball record for the number of saves prior to the all-star break by a rookie and was named to the all-star game himself.?? He has 27 saves including four in week 14.?

Got the batters eating out of his hand.
James Shields allowed just two runs in 14 innings and lost twice.?? No run suppport for the all-star.?

Threw a gem.
Chad Billingsley tossed 8 shutout innings and has allowed just 11 hits in his last 23 innings.? Just as impressive is the 1.23 ERA and the 0.91 whip over the last 14 days.?

Roughed up.
Carlos Carrasco allowed 17 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings over two starts.? The ERA:? 14.14.?
