Cutting Off Cast Shower Drain - Plumbing - DIY Home Improvement ...

there was a built in shower that will now be a closet. shower is going over tub where it belonged in the first place. Drain is 2" cast that comes into the side ,,horizontal inlet to side of 4" stool elbow,,,its complrcated. want to cut off discontinued drain BUT dont want stool to back up in crawl space ever, unnoticed for long time. I have tried cutting cast with a recip saw and grit blade in an easy place to work and didnt fare well. In this less than easy crawl space,,,never...... how do I get this pipe off and sealed? pry out lead at a hub, install thick cement in pipe and cap hub??? with what to cap?
