Posting amateur sports events - Trademarks, Copyrights, and ...

First off, thanks for taking the time to reply.

?If you're talking solely about liability resulting from posting a video that features a particular person's likeness and performance in a boxing contest, there probably is no potential liability.? I'm not thoroughly familiar with the applicable Pennsylvania law, but, generally, laws that prohibit the use of another person's name, likeness, etc. only apply where the name, likeness, etc. is used for some commercial purpose (e.g., an ad identifying John Doe as a fighter who endorses a particular brand of boxing gloves).

This is really the crux of my question.? I think I just complicated it with extraneous details.? Ultimately, the issue is whether or not we can?post the?likeness of another person without their permission.? I wasn't sure of the rules surrounding that.? If I'm reading?you right, given that there is no commercial purpose or financial interest, we should be ok, correct?? Regardless of whether or not the boxer is a minor or not.?

If this is ok, then the whole waiver issue is rendered moot.

(That national stuff doesn't directly apply, because it's limited to a specific event which has ramifications on advancing to the Olympics and the USOC's contracts with various media companies for exclusive right to broadcast or something.? The fact that they have waivers though, made me wonder what we needed to do locally)
