CHICAGO (AP) ? A Chicago hospital has resumed normal operations after police were unable to locate a gunman suspected of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend inside a parking garage of the complex.
A message posted on the University of Illinois at Chicago's website early Friday says police conducted multiple searches of the hospital and there is no sign of the gunman. A police spokeswoman confirms that the man is still at large.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office says the woman who was shot later died.
The shooting happened late Thursday on the second floor of a parking lot at the medical center.
The hospital had been on lockdown for several hours while police searched for the gunman. Around 5 a.m. CT, the university said the hospital resumed normal operations.
